Who we are

What we collect

From you directly: name, email address, phone number, billing details, appointment history, service preferences, and anything you tell us about allergies, sensitivities, medication, pregnancy, or the condition of your nails and skin.

Automatically when you use this site: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and cookie data.

From Protocol guests: photographs of nails taken as part of the service record. These are photographs of nails, not of faces, and they are not biometric identifiers. See section 07.

Why we collect it

To book and manage appointments, take payment, keep a service record so your technician knows what your nails did last visit, send confirmations and reminders, answer you when you write, meet our legal obligations, and prevent fraud.

Where you have opted in, we also send occasional marketing by email or text. Opting out of marketing does not stop messages about an appointment you have booked.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses cookies to work properly and to understand how people use it. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may stop working as intended.

Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we honor it as a request to opt out of any sharing for advertising. [DECIDE: whether you run advertising pixels such as Meta or Google Ads, and name them here if so]

Who else sees it

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

We share what is necessary with the companies that run parts of our business for us. Square handles our booking, payment, customer records, and messaging, and processes your information under its own terms as well as ours. Squarespace hosts this website. ClassPass, Licensed to Glow, and similar platforms hold their own records for appointments booked through them, under their own policies.

We also disclose information where the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, and to a successor if the business is sold or transferred.

Photographs

We photograph nails, not faces, and we ask before we do. We publish nothing showing you or your hands without your permission, and you may withdraw that permission at any time by telling us. Photographs taken as part of a Protocol record are provided to you and kept as part of your service record.

Biometric information

The Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act governs the collection of biometric identifiers, including fingerprints, hand or palm scans, retina or iris scans, voiceprints, and face geometry.

GlossHaus does not collect, capture, store, sell, or disclose biometric identifiers or biometric information from guests or employees. Photographs taken for a Protocol record are images of the nail and surrounding skin. They are not used for identification, are not scanned for face or hand geometry, and are not run through recognition software.

If this ever changes, we will obtain written consent in advance and publish a written retention and destruction schedule, as that Act requires.

Keeping it safe

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information, and we rely on Square and Squarespace to do the same for the systems they run. We do not store full card numbers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If something goes wrong

The Illinois Personal Information Protection Act requires us to notify Illinois residents whose personal information is acquired by an unauthorized person. If that happens we will tell you in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, and will make any report the law requires.

Your rights

You may ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete your information where we are not required to keep it. You may opt out of marketing at any time, by replying STOP to a text, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or telling us.

Illinois residents may request, once per year and free of charge, a list of any personal information we disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the previous year. We do not disclose information for that purpose, and will confirm as much on request.

Under the City of Chicago's disclosure requirements, we confirm that we collect the categories of personal information described in section 02, and that we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep guest records for as long as you are a guest and for a reasonable period afterward, so that a returning guest is not starting from nothing. We keep payment and transaction records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Marketing contact details are kept until you opt out. Children

This website is not intended for anyone under thirteen and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children online. We provide salon services to guests aged six and over, and information about a guest under eighteen is given to us by a parent or guardian who is present. If you believe a child has given us information online, write to us and we will delete it.

Other websites

Where we link to another site, including Square's booking and checkout pages, Instagram, Facebook, or a partner platform, that site has its own privacy policy and we are not responsible for it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and the version published here is the one that applies. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will make that clear.
